Vampires live amongst humans.  Sookie Stackhouse encounters Bill Compton, a vampire who walks into the bar she waits tables in.  Flirtation develops between the two.  Sookie’s brother is arrested when a woman is found strangled.

The series premier opens with a young couple traveling down a desolate country road when they see a store that sells Tru Blood. After a brief scuffle with a vampire, they fearfully flee.

Meanwhile,Sookie Stackhouse,a waitress at the only bar in town, waits on her first vampire ever.   Vampire Bill requests Tru Blood but  there isn’t any in stock.

After Bill leaves, Sookie runs out to save him from two people that try to drain his blood. There is a huge illegal market for vampire blood, as has healing properties for humans but is also highly addictive.
